Title: 2D Packings of Frictionless, Anisotropic Grains

Author (Talk): Mitch Mailman, brandeis physics

Abstract:

The work presented here reports on a computational procedure used to generate jammed packings of soft frictionless anisotropic grains in 2D. A protocol is presented which is used to compress the grains to just touching. Results for the average contact number and packing fraction are presented as well as measurements of nematic and bond orientation order parameters. In addition, som results from the analysis of the dynamical matrix are shown.
