Title: Granular Outflows: Geometry, Confinement, and Dense Jets

Author (Invited): Alban Sauret, University of Maryland, College Park

Abstract:

Granular materials exit a silo at a constant flow rate, yet predicting this flux remains challenging beyond classical empirical laws. In this talk, we will discuss a new geometric and kinematic framework that connects free-fall flux, boundary-induced dilation, confinement, and dense particulate jets. We will also consider extensions of this approach to cohesive grains, non-circular apertures, etc.
