we present new data on the hindered settling of flat shapes (discs and hexagons) and elongated shapes (rods) in the Stokes regime, as a function of both solid volume fraction and particle aspect ratio. These shapes are nonpolar (i.e. head-tail symmetric) and effectively axisymmetric. Despite the wide range of aspect ratio of particles that we explored, our major observation is that the dominant contribution to the hindering function emerges from terms proportional to the volume of a single particle.
